Campaign for Tenfold’s Temporary Homeless Shelter
Tenfold has reached our financial goal for the temporary shelter. Thank you to all who supported this project.
We are still in need of In-kind donations for the shelter. You can find a complete list of supplies needed for the shelter by clicking here.
Right now, far too many members of our community are sleeping on a sidewalk or on a park bench because they have nowhere else to go. As the weather grows colder, sleeping outside becomes increasingly dangerous. Homelessness also means a loss of autonomy, community, and dignity, not to mention living in fear of violence. The inability to escape the cold, stay clean, or have a healthy meal can lead to chronic outcomes, like physical disabilities and illnesses, mental health challenges, and substance use issues.
Currently, there are no low-barrier shelters available for people experiencing unsheltered homelessness in Lancaster. Low-barrier shelters have fewer requirements for entry—such as having an ID or an income—than standard shelters, meaning they are more accessible for people who urgently need shelter. A permanent, low-barrier shelter is planned and currently under construction on Clay Street at the Otterbein United Methodist Church but will not be completed until the end of December.
Every person deserves a safe place to sleep. Your donations will help us fund this urgent project.
Let’s come together as a community to support those who need it most. Your generosity can provide warmth, comfort, and hope for our neighbors in a time of urgent need.
