Meet Nicole
Tenfold’s Beth Shalom House of Peace provides housing and supportive services to mothers transitioning out of prison in Lancaster County, empowering them to regain stability, reconnect with their children, and move forward together as a family.
Nicole, a mother to a 1½-year-old son Noah, is so thankful for the Beth Shalom program. “I can’t put into words how great it has been to be accepted into this program and to get my life in order. I heard about Beth Shalom’s program and believed it would be the program for me, and sure enough, it was.”

Meet Emma

After 24 years of marriage, facing daily physical and mental abuse, Emma* realized it was time to leave-- but that is easier said than done. “Sometimes, you don’t realize the mask the person you love wears, until you are living with them, and the difficulty to actually leave,” Emma shares.

Meet Cortney
Cortney shares a simple message to others experiencing similar situations and homelessness, “persistence through resistance.”
TLC helped Cortney, an Air Force Veteran, regain stability after a period of struggle. Cortney enlisted in the military at age seventeen, following in the footsteps of her father, who served in the military for 42 years. During her 4 years of service, Cortney served in Korea, Mississippi, and Washington. She is proud of her service, and the many life lessons she learned from her experiences. But after she left the military, life was not what she expected.

Meet Pamela
Pamela, age 62, was suffering in an abusive relationship. Then, her abuser kicked her out of their house in Southern Lancaster with nothing but the clothes she was wearing. Fortunately, an Amish neighbor found Pamela outside and recognized that she was homeless and in need of assistance. He was able to contact the local police, who brought Pamela to Lancaster City.

Meet Edwin
Edwin, an Army veteran who grew up in Lancaster, had been living in his home for 18 years. Then the building was sold to a new landlord. At the same time, Edwin was diagnosed with cancer. The side effects from his chemotherapy treatments made it difficult for him to continue working, and in the span of just a few months, Edwin lost both his job and his home. Without a steady source of income, finding a new place to live seemed impossible, and Edwin found himself facing homelessness. Then he was referred to TLC.

Meet Dale
In memory of Dale Preischel, who passed away on September 10, 2024. An Update on Danny’s Life Today
Danny and his family were introduced in a video a year ago where he discussed his determination to overcome challenges and unlock a new beginning despite experiencing a period of turmoil. We had the honor of walking alongside Danny then, providing him with new tools, resources, and skills he could use to break through those barriers. Danny and his family are now stable in their own home. Now, he is the one hosting family gatherings and enjoying holidays and celebrations at their home.

Meet the Women of Fun, Faith, and Fellowship (F3)
F3, is a group of women from St. John’s Episcopal Church, that volunteer monthly at Beth Shalom bringing “Fun, Faith, and Fellowship”, to participants at Beth Shalom. Beth Shalom, a program of Tenfold, is a referral-based program that strives to end prison recidivism by providing a comprehensive Christian interim housing program for single mothers leaving prison, where they can reunite with children and be empowered with the skills and opportunities necessary for long-term self-sufficiency.

Meet Sheila
Sheila experienced a period of numerous challenges and struggles; she was on the verge of losing her apartment and with no family in the area, worrying about where she and her son would go to find shelter. She reached out to TLC/Veterans’ Victory House (a temporary home for individuals, veterans, and families experiencing homelessness), where a room was available for Sheila and her son.

Meet Jeffrey
Jeffrey, an Army Veteran who was left disabled, experiencing lingering, life-long effects from his time in the service and combat in Desert Storm. At 58 years old, Jeffrey didn’t see himself and his 4-year-old son, Jabril, starting over. However, last October, he found himself in a dire predicament; his lease was not going to be renewed and they had nowhere to go.

Meet Sean
Sean shares how an accident changed his life in a matter of seconds. It happened so fast while rollerblading on a local road, “I was attempting to make a turn and rammed into a parked truck.” Sean, who was 15 years old at the time, was in a coma for two and a half weeks with a fractured head, and then spent the next six months in a rehabilitation facility addressing issues of memory, cognition, and physical therapy to relearn the basics of walking, talking and more.
